Chapter 17
DANIEL lay facedown in his bed, his face buried in the pillow, Derek’s weight against his back, Derek’s hard cock pressing against his ass. He moaned unhappily. He hadn’t even felt Derek climb into his bed. Mum must be away, he surmised. That hard cock rubbed insistently in the crease of his ass, and Daniel moaned again, desperately trying to move away. Suddenly an intense rage filled him, and for the first time, he wanted to strike back.
“For fuck’s sake, leave me alone, Derek!” he hissed, lashing out to stop his stepfather from continuing, his elbow connecting with something solid. A cry of pain pierced his dream, and he awoke instantly, turning over in bed to see….
Evan clutching his left cheekbone, obviously in pain. In absolute horror, Daniel reached for him, aghast at what he’d done.
“Oh, baby!” he exclaimed, tears welling as he took in the sight of his lover.
Tears fell down Evan’s cheeks, and self-loathing surged through Daniel. Unable to face what he’d just done, he hurriedly got up, reaching for his clothing from the floor as he attempted to hurry from the room. He couldn’t stick around to see Evan’s reaction. It would hurt too much.
“Daniel!” Evan’s anguished shout stopped him. “Please… please don’t run from me.”
Daniel looked at him. Evan’s cheek was already mottled; there was going to be a bruise blemishing that gorgeous face. His chest tightened at the sight. I hurt him….
Evan grabbed Daniel’s arms to hold him still. He locked eyes with Daniel. “You were dreaming, weren’t you?” Daniel nodded. “So was I… I was dreaming about you, enjoying rubbing my prick against your ass. I woke up to find I was doing just that, and it felt so good. But then it occurred to me your moans weren’t exactly sounds of pleasure… and then you cried out.” Suddenly Evan paled. “Oh fuck—you thought I was Derek, didn’t you?”
Slowly, Daniel nodded, and to his dismay, tears began to fall freely down Evan’s cheeks. “Ev, please… please don’t cry.” The sight of Evan in tears tore at his insides.
“I’m so sorry, honey,” Evan whispered.
Daniel stared at him in disbelief, eyes widening. “Why the fuck are you apologizing to me?” he demanded, his tone incredulous.
“I didn’t think… I should’ve known how you’d react…. Oh fuck, honey, I—”
Daniel cut off his apology with a kiss, putting his arms around him. Evan practically melted against him, all words forgotten, as Daniel continued to kiss him slowly and thoroughly, his lips ardent and insistent.
Gasping, breathless, Evan broke the kiss. “Why were you running from me?” He pulled free of Daniel’s embrace.
Daniel lowered his head. He could barely whisper the words. “I hurt you.”
Evan lifted Daniel’s chin, staring into his warm gold-flecked eyes.
“It wasn’t your fault, love.” He pulled Daniel down beside him on the bed. “Now, the least you can do is kiss it better.” Daniel leaned forward to place tender lips against the cheekbone, where the bruise was already emerging, wincing when he heard Evan’s hiss of pain.
